Felix Baumgartner (born 1969), Austrian skydiver, at a ceremony to lay a star for him on the Walk of Fame at the Vegas shopping centre in Moscow, Russia. On 14th October 2012 Baumgartner jumped to Earth from an altitude of 39, 045 meters. During the jump he was in freefall for four minutes and twenty seconds. The jump broke the record for the highest ever freefall and Baumgartner became the first ever skydiver to break the sound barrier, reaching a maximum velocity of 1342.8 kilometres an hour (mach 1.24)
