Electronic ink

Electronic ink. Male researcher adding blue dye to a glass vessel as he mixes electronic ink. Paper coated in this ink can have text downloaded onto it electronically. The digital nature of the ink allows the text to be changed so a book, for example, can hold thousands of titles. The ink consists of tiny transparent spheres (microcapsules) containing microscopic white balls and a blue dye. When an electric current is applied, the balls rise up through the blue dye and become visible, or sink. By controlling where they rise and where they sink, a message can be formed. The ink was developed by Joseph Jacobson at MIT, USA, where this photograph was taken

Electronic Mixing Printing Vessel

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this photo print, we witness the cutting-edge world of electronic ink come to life. A male researcher stands focused, adding a mesmerizing blue dye into a glass vessel as he expertly mixes the revolutionary electronic ink. This extraordinary ink possesses the power to transform ordinary paper into an interactive medium capable of downloading text electronically. The digital essence of this remarkable invention allows for endless possibilities. Imagine a single book holding within its pages thousands of titles that can be effortlessly changed at will. The secret lies in the composition of this groundbreaking ink - tiny transparent spheres known as microcapsules housing microscopic white balls and infused with the vibrant blue dye. When an electric current is applied, these minuscule balls either rise through the enchanting blue hue, becoming visible, or gracefully sink back down. By skillfully controlling their ascent and descent, intricate messages are formed on any surface coated with this magical ink. This awe-inspiring innovation was brought to life by Joseph Jacobson at MIT in the United States – where our lens captured this incredible moment. As we gaze upon this image, we are reminded that science knows no bounds when it comes to pushing technological boundaries and revolutionizing industries such as printing.
