Egyptian goose (Alopochen aegyptiacus) up-ended whilst feeding. This goose is found near water in the Nile Valley and sub-Saharan Africa. It is an excellent swimmer but spends the majority of its time on land, often at a great distance from water. It feeds mostly on terrestrial plants and occasionally insects. It can reach lengths of up to 70 centimetres. Males are aggressive and colonies tend to be noisy and violent, with territorial battles being common.
