Colour electron micrograph of Martian microfossils

Evidence for life on Mars. Coloured scanning electron micrograph of tube-like structures (coloured pink) on a meteorite which originated from Mars. Structures such as these have been interpreted as possibly being microfossils of primitive, bacteria-like organisms which may have lived on Mars more than 3.6 billion years ago. The structures are less than 1/100th the diameter of a human hair. The meteorite, called ALH84001, was discovered in Antarctica in 1984, and has since been studied at NASAs Johnson Space Center and at Stanford University

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases a mesmerizing glimpse into the possibility of life beyond Earth. In this colour electron micrograph, we are presented with an extraordinary view of Martian microfossils, providing compelling evidence for the existence of life on Mars. The image reveals tube-like structures, delicately coloured in pink, found on a meteorite originating from the Red Planet. These minute structures, measuring less than 1/100th the diameter of a human hair, have been interpreted as potential microfossils belonging to primitive organisms resembling bacteria. Their presence suggests that these enigmatic beings may have thrived on Mars over 3.6 billion years ago. The meteorite itself is named ALH84001 and was discovered in Antarctica back in 1984. Since then, it has undergone extensive examination at NASA's Johnson Space Center and Stanford University. This remarkable find has sparked immense interest within various scientific disciplines such as biology, astrobiology, and exobiology. As we delve deeper into this field of research known as alien or extraterrestrial life studies, images like this serve as powerful reminders that our quest for understanding extends far beyond our home planet. With each discovery made through meticulous analysis and exploration of celestial bodies like Mars, humanity inches closer to unraveling one of its greatest mysteries – whether we are truly alone in the universe or if other forms of life exist among distant worlds.
