Breadfruit
Breadfruit (Artocarpus altilis) growing on its tree. The breadfruit, so called because of its bread-like taste and texture, is native to the Polynesian Islands. It has gained popularity in the Caribbean, southern India and Sri Lanka due it it being highly nutritious and easy to preserve. Breadfruits have a thick warty rind containing yellow flesh, and are prepared by roasting, steaming or baking. Breadfruits are seedless and those that contain seeds are called breadnuts
