Banana tree
Banana tree. Plastic bags around clusters (hands) of green bananas (Musa sp. ) to help them ripen before picking. The clusters of bananas initially grow up through the leaf system of the banana tree. Once the flowers of the tree fall off (not seen), the clusters are pulled over by the weight of the developing fruit. Unripe bananas contain an abundance of starch which changes to sugar upon ripening. Photographed in Grenada
