Andrei Tupolev, Soviet aircraft designer
Andrei Nikolayevich Tupolev (1888-1972), Soviet aircraft designer. Tupolev pioneered aircraft design in the Soviet Union, overseeing the development of more than 100 models of aircraft. These included the Tu-4 and Tu-95 bombers, and the Tu-104, the worlds second jet airliner. His awards included Hero of Socialist Labour. Photographed in 1959, in Moscow, Russia
