Albertus Magnus (1193-1280), German theologian. Albertus was a Dominican friar and bishop who applied Aristotles philosophy to Christian thought. The circular title includes Bolstadius, a reference to him being the son of the Count of Bollstadt. The caption is also in Latin. This artwork appeared in Bibliotheca Chalcographica (1652-1669), published in nine parts and itself based on Icones virorum illustrium (1597-1598).
