Addison Emery Verrill (1839-1926), American zoologist. Verrill graduated from Harvard University, USA, but moved to Yale University when he was appointed as the first professor of zoology there. He taught at Yale for 40 years, during which time he published over 350 papers and monographs. Verrill described over 1000 species of animal in nearly every taxonomic group.
