3D printed objects C014 / 0280

3D printed object. Intricately designed objects made using the process of stereolithography. Stereolithography (or optical fabrication) is an additive manufacturing (3D printing) technology used for producing models, prototypes, patterns, and production parts. It works by using a vat of liquid photopolymer resin that hardens (cures) when exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light, and an ultraviolet laser to build the layers of an object one at a time. For each layer, the laser beam traces a cross-section of the part pattern on the surface of the liquid resin. Exposure to the UV laser light cures and solidifies the pattern traced on the resin and joins it to the layer below. As it progresses the solid object slowly rises out of the liquid resin

Complex Cured Hard Hardened Intricate Manufacturing Materials Science Object Objects Printed Production Quartet Resin Show Solid Solidified 3d Printing Cutouts

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases a quartet of 3D printed objects, each intricately designed and brought to life using the innovative process of stereolithography. The artistry behind this manufacturing technique is truly awe-inspiring, as it allows for the creation of models, prototypes, patterns, and production parts with unparalleled precision. Stereolithography harnesses the power of ultraviolet light and a liquid photopolymer resin to build these objects layer by layer. As an ultraviolet laser traces the desired pattern on the surface of the resin, exposure to its light causes it to cure and solidify. With each successive layer added, these complex structures gradually emerge from their liquid origins. The result is a stunning still life that showcases both the technological prowess and artistic potential inherent in additive manufacturing. Every intricate detail has been carefully cut out from hardened resin through this remarkable process. This print offers a glimpse into the world of materials science and engineering where imagination meets reality. It highlights how 3D printing technology continues to push boundaries in terms of what can be created with precision and complexity. PASCAL GOETGHELUCK/SCIENCE PHOTO LIBRARY has masterfully captured this moment where innovation converges with craftsmanship – an ode to human ingenuity at its finest.
