John Charles Williams of Caerhays, President of the Royal Institution of Cornwall and Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall, sits in the presidential chair. The Prince of Wales, Duke of Cornwall (later to become King Edward VIII), sits to the left of centre and is wearing the uniform of Commander in Chief, The Duke of Cornwalls Light Infantry. The Mayor of Truro, thought to be W.A. Phillips, sits to the right. This print captures a momentous occasion in the history of Cornwall - the opening ceremony of the Royal Cornwall Museum on 11th June 1919. The grand event took place at River Street, Truro, where esteemed guests gathered to celebrate this significant milestone. In the center of attention sits John Charles Williams, President of the Royal Institution of Cornwall and Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall, occupying the prestigious presidential chair. To his left is none other than the Prince of Wales himself, who would later ascend to become King Edward VIII.
