EDITORS COMMENTS
Step back in time to early 1900s Churchtown, St Minver, Cornwall. This print captures the essence of a quaint rural village with its charming shops and Edwardian architecture. The scene unfolds as we look down the street, where history whispers through every brick and cobblestone. On the left side of the street stands the Post Office, an integral part of this tight-knit community. Over time, it would transform into what is now known as the Fourways Inn—a place that holds countless stories within its walls. Meanwhile, John Goodman's shop proudly displays its wares on the right-hand side. Known for his expertise in drapery and carpentry, Goodman's establishment was later renamed 'The Olde Shop, ' preserving its legacy for generations to come. As our gaze wanders further along this picturesque street, we notice Stone Cottage nestled next door—an idyllic dwelling that exudes warmth and character. A telegraph pole catches our attention with a sign proclaiming telephone and telegram services—a testament to technological advancements during that era. Amidst this timeless setting are two gentlemen standing casually in conversation—perhaps discussing local news or sharing tales from their daily lives. Their presence adds life to this snapshot frozen in time. This remarkable photograph serves as a window into a bygone era—a glimpse into an Edwardian Cornish village brimming with charm and simplicity.
