EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the historic stones from Fenton Berran, now residing at Chyverton Manor in Perranzabuloe, Cornwall. Believed to have been taken in the early 1900s, this image transports us back in time to witness a piece of local heritage. The stones originated from Perran Well, situated at the bottom of Church Hill in Perranwell. Unfortunately, due to road works that took place later on, the original site was destroyed. However, these precious remnants were carefully reconstructed within the gardens of Chyverton House during the mid-19th century. Chyverton Manor itself is an exquisite Grade II listed country house with a rich history. Originally built for John Andrews and later expanded around 1770 for John Thomas, it is sometimes referred to as "Chiverton" in historical records. The photographer responsible for capturing this remarkable scene remains unknown. This photograph not only highlights the architectural beauty of Chyverton Manor but also sheds light on Cornwall's holy wells and archaeological significance. It serves as a poignant reminder of our connection to past generations and their dedication to preserving cultural treasures
