Donald Campbell Collection

Donald Campbell was a British speed record breaker who gained fame in the 1950s and 1960s. He set numerous land and water speed records, including becoming the first person to break both the land and water speed records in the same year. Campbell's most famous achievement was setting a new world water speed record of 276.33 mph on Lake Eyre in Australia in 1964, driving his jet-powered boat Bluebird K7. Sadly, he died during an attempt to break his own record on Coniston Water in England two years later when his boat crashed at high speeds. Despite this tragedy, Campbell remains a popular figure for his daring feats of engineering and bravery.
