The film was eventually released on 12th June 1963 and was the highest-grossing film of 1963, earning box-office of $57.7 million in the United States and Canada, and one of the highest-grossing films of the decade at a worldwide level. It received nine nominations at the 36th Academy Awards, including for Best Picture, and won four: Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Visual Effects and Best Costume Design.
The man in the picture is unknown, though possibly a reporter for The Daily Herald Newspaper, which this picture was shot for.
