Rust, that eternal enemy of motorists everywhere, wasn't the only thing Peter Nuttall had to contend with. He didn't know it, but his Volkswagen motor caravan looked suitable prey for woodworm. Mr Nuttall, from Cambridge, only discovered the shocking truth when put the vehicle into a garage for repairs. There, engineers discovered that whole steel sections of the subframe had been replaced by length of wood. Equally shocking, the Volkswagen, apparently in its bodged up condition, had recently been given an MOT by another garage. August 1972
