EDITORS COMMENTS
Wolverhampton's famous pop group Slade adds a touch of rock 'n' roll glamour to the wedding of Eileen Delahay and Ian Newnham. In this photo print, taken on August 30th, 1980, we witness a unique blend of music and matrimony. The newlyweds are seen joyfully riding an ancient firetruck provided by Bristol Street Motors in Birmingham, as it transports them from their ceremony at St Huberts Church in Warley to their reception in Old Hill. Adding star power to the occasion is Noddy Holder, Slade's charismatic frontman, who proudly stands as best man for his friend Ian - hailing from Dudley. On the left side of the picture stands Jim Lea, another talented member of Slade. Their presence not only elevates the excitement but also showcases the strong bond between these Wolverhampton natives. It serves as a testament to how even celebrities can be partakers in life's most cherished milestones alongside ordinary folks like Eileen and Ian.
