EDITORS COMMENTS
In this heartwarming print from 1987, Christian Morris and his fellow cubs can be seen joining forces to wage an all-out war on litter in Golcar. These determined young boys, who are all proud members of the 4th Golcar Baptist pack, took it upon themselves to swoop down on the green, churchyard, and streets in Town End to rid their village of unsightly rubbish. Organized by Keep Britain Tidy, this impressive purge was made possible with the support of Kirklees Cleansing Department. They provided a skip for easy disposal, plastic bags for collecting trash, and gloves to ensure safety during the clean-up operation. This powerful image captures the essence of childhood innocence combined with a strong sense of responsibility towards our environment. It serves as a reminder that even at such a tender age, these young cubs were already aware of their duty to protect and preserve their surroundings. The photograph not only showcases the determination and unity displayed by these youngsters but also highlights the importance of community organizations working together towards a common goal. Their efforts serve as an inspiration for future generations to take action against littering and make a positive impact on their own communities. This nostalgic snapshot is part of Memory Lane Prints' collection that takes us back in time to cherish moments like these - when youth came together for a greater cause.
