Ready for work... members of the 35th Huddersfield (Lepton Methodist) Scouts armed with paint and brushes with Galliford Yorkshire staff Graham fox (left), Craig Marshall (right) and site manager Paul Hammond (second right). The Scout hut in Highgate Lane, Lepton, opened in 1976, was in need of urgent structural repair and decoration work following an attack by vandals. Gallifords stepped in to help, along with ICI, as part of its community service programme. Group members and parents are now painting the outside of the building. The work has been co-ordinated by John Grist, committee member responsible for building maintenance. 21st October 1991

EDITORS COMMENTS
Ready for work. . . members of the 35th Huddersfield (Lepton Methodist) Scouts armed with paint and brushes, stand alongside Galliford Yorkshire staff Graham Fox, Craig Marshall, and site manager Paul Hammond. This heartwarming photo captures a moment of unity as these dedicated individuals come together to restore the Scout hut in Highgate Lane. Opened in 1976, this beloved community space had fallen victim to a senseless act of vandalism. But thanks to the generosity and commitment of Gallifords and ICI through their community service program, help was on its way. With paint cans in hand and determination in their eyes, these scouts are ready to transform the dilapidated building into a vibrant hub once again. Under the guidance of John Grist, committee member responsible for building maintenance, group members and parents have taken up brushes to give back to their cherished scouting home. The task at hand is not just about repairing physical damage but also symbolizes resilience and solidarity within this close-knit community. This powerful image serves as a reminder that when faced with adversity, people can come together for a common cause. It showcases the spirit of volunteerism and highlights how small acts can make a significant impact on local communities. Captured on October 21st, 1991 during an era defined by camaraderie and collective action; this photograph encapsulates the essence of teamwork while preserving memories from an important chapter in Lepton's history.
