Hold the front page..." reporters" from Moor End High School are busy preparing their entry for the Examiner Junior Journalist Competition. They are part of the schools newspaper group which has organised interviews with Town players at Leeds Road, with the Mayor of Kirklees, Clr Jack Brooke, and student surveys within Moor End. Teacher Gail Johnson said: " All the ideas are theirs and they are doing all the work". The competition, which is sponsored by the National Westminster bank, closes on Friday, December 13. These budding journalists aged just 13 years old include Terri Gunby, Jamie Miller, Ben Dawes, Lucy Swierczynski, Ravinder Bains, Jody Calvert and Yasmine Aslam. With determination in their eyes and pens in hand ready to take on any story that comes their way. The students have taken charge of every aspect of their entry for the competition; brainstorming ideas for articles and conducting interviews with prominent figures in their community. Their dedication to journalism shines through as they immerse themselves in real-world experiences to bring authentic news stories to life. Supported by their teacher Gail Johnson who encourages them every step of the way but emphasizes that it is truly these young reporters who deserve all credit for their hard work.
