EDITORS COMMENTS
Capturing the essence of gratitude and community, this print showcases the bountiful produce proudly displayed at a harvest thanksgiving service held at Upperthong Junior and Infants School. Standing beside the vibrant array of fruits and vegetables are Sally Figg, Thomas Jackson, and Timothy Welton, radiating joy as they participate in this annual celebration. The address during this heartfelt gathering was delivered by Rev Nigel Johnson, Vicar of St John's in Upperthong. Joining him in leading prayers was Rev Brian Stocks from the Holmfirth Methodist circuit. The presence of parents and friends added to the warmth and unity felt throughout the service. This memorable occasion not only served as an educational experience for these young children but also highlighted their commitment to giving back to their community. The harvested produce would be lovingly donated to Storthes Hall Hospital in Kirkburton, symbolizing compassion towards those in need. Taken on October 10th, 1985, this snapshot transports us back to a simpler time - an era when children were taught values such as gratitude and generosity within their education. It serves as a reminder that even amidst our busy lives today, we can still find inspiration from moments like these where kindness flourishes.
