EDITORS COMMENTS
Playtime at Reinwood Infant and Nursery School was taken to new heights with the addition of a brand new play area, thanks to the efforts of community constable PC Adrian Denby and the friends of the school. This heartwarming photo captures PC Denby testing out the slide with an infectious smile on his face. The creation of this vibrant playground was made possible through various fundraising events, including a concert at Venn Street Arts Centre, which brought together generous individuals from all corners of the community. In addition, BBC Children in Need contributed £1,000 towards this project, highlighting their commitment to supporting children's initiatives. Kirklees Council also played a vital role by providing financial assistance towards the overall cost of £4,270. The play area boasts more than just a slide; it features wooden stepping stones and a balancing bar on a base covered in wood chippings – ensuring safety while encouraging imaginative play. This snapshot from September 20th, 1990 not only showcases joyous moments shared between children and their dedicated local police officer but also exemplifies how communities can come together for a common cause. It serves as a timeless reminder that when we unite our efforts and resources for the betterment of our youth, incredible things can be achieved.
