Taking a step back in time are these pupils from Outlane Infants School who donned

Taking a step back in time are these pupils from Outlane Infants School who donned Victorian garb today as part of the schools centenary celebrations. From left are Sophie Bedford, Suzanne Jacob, Kathryn Hill, Thomas Dearden, Paul Robertshaw and Lee Johnson. And running the rule over them is head Miss Margaret Wilson. All 216 pupils wore Victorian dress - along with their teachers - and lessons and play times were also Victorian style. 7th July 1986

EDITORS COMMENTS
Stepping into the past, Outlane Infants School pupils embrace their school's centenary celebrations by donning Victorian attire. In this print from July 7th, 1986, six students proudly showcase their period costumes alongside headmistress Miss Margaret Wilson. Sophie Bedford, Suzanne Jacob, Kathryn Hill, Thomas Dearden, Paul Robertshaw, and Lee Johnson transport us back to a time of elegance and tradition. The entire school community participated in this immersive experience as all 216 pupils and teachers embraced Victorian dress for the day. Lessons and playtimes were transformed into authentic recreations of yesteryears' education system. This unique event not only celebrated the school's rich history but also provided an invaluable learning opportunity for these young minds. Captured within this image is a sense of wonderment as these children explore a world unfamiliar to them - one that existed long before their own time. The attention to detail in their clothing reflects the dedication put forth by both staff and parents alike. This photograph serves as a reminder that education extends beyond textbooks; it encompasses experiential learning that sparks curiosity and fosters appreciation for our collective heritage. These Outlane Infants School pupils have truly taken a step back in time.
