EDITORS COMMENTS
Sitting pretty. . . that's Huddersfield Caribbean Association manager Mr. Denzil Nurse and Spring Grove School pupils seen trying out a new bench along with Mr. Dennis Shaw, community project officer for Keep Britain Tidy. The photo captures the heartwarming collaboration between these diverse groups in 1987. The bench, skillfully crafted by members of the association using timber supplied free by Garrards, stands as a symbol of unity and environmental consciousness. It finds its place in the school's environmental studies area, where young minds explore nature's wonders. This snapshot also commemorates the joint effort put forth by Keep Britain Tidy Group and the Caribbean Association during a recent clean-up campaign in Springwood. Their dedication extended to enhancing the school's urban garden, an educational haven where children delve into studying insects and birds. In this image from three decades ago, we witness not only smiling faces but also glimpses of hope for stronger communities and a greener future. It serves as a reminder that when different cultures come together with shared goals, remarkable things can be achieved. As we look back on this moment captured in time, let it inspire us to continue fostering harmony among ethnic groups while nurturing our environment for generations to come.
