EDITORS COMMENTS
In this heartwarming print from 1987, we see Miss Examiner Madeleine Garbutt (left) being presented with a generous £1,266 cheque for our appeal. The incredible amount was raised by approximately 50 talented pupils of the York Dance Studios in Milnsbridge. These young dancers participated in a one-hour sponsored disco dance, organized by their dedicated head dance teacher Susan Shaw (right), who also joined the group of enthusiastic fundraisers. The event took place on the 28th of March and captured the essence of childhood joy and community spirit during the 1980s. As these children showcased their dancing skills to support a great cause, they radiated happiness and enthusiasm that is truly contagious. This significant donation will undoubtedly make a positive impact on our charity's mission. It demonstrates how even small acts can create big change when driven individuals come together for a common goal. The Huddersfield Examiner newspaper documented this memorable moment as it unfolded in West Yorkshire. We are immensely grateful to Miss Examiner Madeleine Garbutt, Susan Shaw, and all those involved in making this fundraising initiative such a resounding success. Their dedication to improving health through charitable efforts is truly inspiring. As we look back at this photograph from Memory Lane Prints, it serves as a reminder that every contribution counts towards building healthier communities for future generations.
