Young actors at Shelley High School are aiming for a hat-trick of drama successes with

Young actors at Shelley High School are aiming for a hat-trick of drama successes with their latest production which is being assessed by the Royal National Theater. War is the topical subject of The Coca-Cola Dragon, although teacher Mr Steven Downs, who wrote the play, says the idea came last year before the war started in the Gulf. Some 16 actors and eight musicians put weeks of preparation into the production, under the supervision of Mr Downs and co-directors Marilyn Faricy and Julie Root. 14th February 1991

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this photo print, young actors from Shelley High School are seen passionately rehearsing for their latest production, aiming to achieve a remarkable hat-trick of drama successes. The play they are working on is titled "The Coca-Cola Dragon" which explores the timely and thought-provoking theme of war. Interestingly, the idea for this play originated before the Gulf War began last year, as mentioned by their dedicated teacher and playwright Mr. Steven Downs. With utmost dedication and commitment, a group of 16 talented actors and eight skilled musicians have invested weeks into preparing for this production under the guidance of Mr. Downs, along with co-directors Marilyn Faricy and Julie Root. Their collective efforts promise an extraordinary theatrical experience that will surely captivate audiences. It is worth noting that this exceptional performance has attracted attention beyond just their school walls; it is being assessed by none other than the prestigious Royal National Theater. This recognition speaks volumes about the immense talent nurtured within Shelley High School's drama department. This photograph captures a moment frozen in time—a testament to the passion, hard work, and creativity exhibited by these young actors who strive to make their mark in the world of theater. As we delve into all our yesterdays through Memory Lane Prints' collection, let us celebrate these aspiring artists who bring stories to life on stage while reminding us of the power of imagination and expression found within every child's heart.
