Staff at Birmingham Maternity Hospital, where It was reported earlier yesterday, 2nd October 1968, that Sheila Thorns from Birmingham underwent a Caesarean section early this morning during which six children - four boys and two girls - were delivered. In what was been hailed as the first recorded case of live sextuplets in Britain. All the babies were placed in incubators after being delivered. Twenty eight medical staff from Birmingham Maternity Hospital were present at the delivery. Three of the Thorns sextuplets survived, July, Susan & Roger, and went on to live healthy lives
