In an official communique issued on the Air Raid, Viscount French as the Officer Commanding -in Chief the Home Forces, he makes this reference to the bringing down of this aircraft: " A number of aircraft of the RFC went up. Two of our scouts encountered an enemy aeroplane over Essex. After a brief fight at close range the raider took fire and fell in flames to the ground10, 000 ft. below. All three members of its crew were burnt to death". 29th January 1918
