Reverand Bob Morgan, former chairman South Glamorgan CC

Reverand Bob Morgan, former chairman South Glamorgan CC. *HUNDREDS of friends and family turned out at the weekend for a memorial to politician and clergyman Bob Morgan. The Church of the Resurrection, in Ely, Cardiff, was packed with people wanting to celebrate the life of the staunch Labour man who died in November. His daughter, Eluned, remembered being brought up in a home that was an open house for Cardiffis waifs and strays. She told the congregation: iIf we were lucky we would get a lift to school but first we had to remove Eddie from the car. iHe was a crazy man who liked to challenge the number 14 bus to karate duels. The car provided him with a place to sleep.i Another time her dad fell asleep in the vicarage only to wake to find new guests. Eluned n now Baroness Morgan of Ely n said: iOne day dad fell asleep in the vicarage to find nine Ely hospital patients staring down at him. iThey had just wandered in through the ever open front door.i 8th, May, 1981

Remembering Reverend Bob Morgan - A Celebration of a Life Well-Lived

EDITORS COMMENTS
. In this heartfelt print captured on May 8th, 1981, we are transported back to a momentous memorial held at the Church of the Resurrection in Ely, Cardiff. The image depicts an overflowing congregation, comprising hundreds of friends and family members who gathered to honor the remarkable life of Reverend Bob Morgan – a revered politician and clergyman. Renowned for his unwavering commitment to the Labour party, Reverend Morgan's legacy extended far beyond politics. His daughter Eluned fondly reminisces about their home being an open sanctuary for Cardiff's lost souls. She humorously recalls how they would often find unexpected visitors in their midst - from Eddie, who challenged buses to karate duels before finding solace in their car, to nine bewildered Ely hospital patients who wandered into their vicarage through its ever-open front door. This poignant photograph encapsulates not only the profound impact that Reverend Bob Morgan had on his community but also highlights his compassionate nature and willingness to embrace those in need. As we reflect upon this snapshot from Memory Lane Prints, let us remember him as a man whose kindness knew no bounds and whose memory continues to inspire all those fortunate enough to have known him.
