City players went back to their childhood today... to prove they really are Sky Blues
City players went back to their childhood today...to prove they really are Sky Blues Babes. They posed for photographers wearing, wearing, wait for it...nappies and shower caps. And they seem to enjoy it! It was all part of a publicity scheme devised by City management, and manager Gordon Milne acted as " nanny" with a giant milk bottle for teenagers Steve Murcott, David Barnes, Danny Thomas, Steve Whitton, Gary Bannister, Andy Blair, Paul Dyson, Tom english, Gary Gillespie, Mark Hately and Garry Thompson. All except Barnes have first-team experience and was Citys way of telling the national public they have a bright future.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this nostalgic photo print, City players take a delightful trip down memory lane to prove their undying loyalty as Sky Blues Babes. With an infectious sense of humor and childlike enthusiasm, they don nappies and shower caps for the amusement of photographers. And boy, do they revel in it! This whimsical scene was orchestrated by City management as a clever publicity stunt. Manager Gordon Milne assumes the role of a nurturing nanny, complete with a giant milk bottle. The group includes talented teenagers Steve Murcott, David Barnes (the only one without first-team experience), Danny Thomas, Steve Whitton, Gary Bannister, Andy Blair, Paul Dyson, Tom English, Gary Gillespie, Mark Hately and Garry Thompson. Each player embodies the bright future that Coventry City FC envisions for itself. This snapshot captures not just the lightheartedness within the team but also showcases their camaraderie and willingness to go above and beyond for their beloved club. It serves as a reminder that even professional athletes can embrace their inner child while remaining dedicated professionals on the field. Taken on November 9th in 1979 by photographer Bob Cole from Memory Lane Prints collection; this image transports us back to an era when footballers were not afraid to let loose and have some fun off-pitch. A testament to both the spirit of Coventry City FC during that time period and its enduring legacy today.
