Coventry car workers took to the city centre to help the launch of the new Peugeot Talbot 309. And the message from the Ryton men was: " This is our car, our future, and we are proud of it." Lord Mayor Cllr Bill McKernan, had Ian Mallison, six, from Brinklow helping him with the unveiling ceremony. The Lord Mayor thanked Talbot for its faith in Coventry. He was proud the car had been built in the city and said the companys success with advance orders was outstanding. But the day belonged to the workers who had seen the model through from the drawing board to the showroom. Paint shop manager Robin Laye said: " This is the best car we have ever produced."
