Diana, Princess of Wales makes a three day visit to Bosnia - Herzegovina as part of her

Diana, Princess of Wales makes a three day visit to Bosnia - Herzegovina as part of her campaign to raise awareness about the devastating effects landmines have on peoples lives and to call for a complete ban on the production, sale and use of land mines.
The trip was organised by the American-based Landmine Survivors Network.
Here she is pictured on arrival at Sarajevo airport at the start of her visit, being greeted by Ken Rutherford, co founder of the Landmine Survivors Network, who lost both his legs to a landmine in Somalia in 1992.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this powerful photo print, we witness the compassionate and determined spirit of Diana, Princess of Wales during her visit to Bosnia-Herzegovina in 1997. With a mission to shed light on the devastating impact of landmines and advocate for their complete ban, she embarked on a three-day journey as part of her campaign. Arriving at Sarajevo airport, Diana is captured in this momentous image being warmly greeted by Ken Rutherford, co-founder of the Landmine Survivors Network. A survivor himself who lost both his legs to a landmine in Somalia five years prior, Rutherford's presence symbolizes the resilience and strength that can be found amidst such tragedy. Dressed elegantly yet purposefully, Diana's unwavering commitment shines through her eyes as she prepares herself for what lies ahead. Her genuine concern for those affected by landmines radiates from every inch of this photograph. This snapshot serves as a poignant reminder not only of Diana's dedication to humanitarian causes but also highlights the urgent need for global action against these deadly weapons. The trip organized by the American-based Landmine Survivors Network brought international attention to post-war Bosnia-Herzegovina and its people still grappling with the aftermath. Gavin Kent skillfully captures an iconic moment in history that encapsulates compassion meeting courage. This image stands as a testament to Princess Diana's enduring legacy and her tireless efforts towards making our world safer and more compassionate for all.
