Animals Dogs Friendship: This baby Chimp was neglected by it
Animals Dogs Friendship: This baby Chimp was neglected by its Mother soon after it was born at Twycross Zoo, Leicestershire, So Zoo owner Molly Badham has had to bottle feed it. Cindy her pet Great Dane began to take a keen interest in the little one and Molly allowed her too look after the baby while she prepared its feed. Now Cindy is treating the baby like her own. Local school children were asked to give a name to the new baby and the most popular name was William as the chimp was born around the same time as the Royal Prince. October 1982 P022083

EDITORS COMMENTS
Unlikely Bonds: A Heartwarming Tale of Friendship". In this touching photograph captured in October 1982, we witness a remarkable display of compassion and friendship between two unlikely companions. Meet William, the baby chimp who was sadly abandoned by his mother shortly after birth at Twycross Zoo in Leicestershire. Left with no choice but to intervene, zoo owner Molly Badham took on the responsibility of bottle-feeding him. However, fate had something extraordinary in store for little William. Enter Cindy, Molly's beloved pet Great Dane, whose maternal instincts kicked into high gear upon meeting the vulnerable chimp. Sensing William's need for care and affection, Cindy eagerly stepped up to become his surrogate mother. As Molly prepared William's feed one day, she noticed an undeniable bond forming between her gentle giant and the tiny primate. Entrusting Cindy with the task of looking after William became a routine that not only brought them closer but also melted hearts around them. The heartwarming connection didn't stop there; local school children were invited to participate in naming the adorable duo's newest addition. In a nod to history being made elsewhere during that time period - as Prince William was born - it seemed fitting that they chose "William" as their favorite name. This image serves as a reminder that love knows no boundaries or species. It showcases how animals can forge deep connections based on empathy and kindness alone – proving once again that true friendships can blossom even under unexpected circumstances.
