A Touch of Midsummer Madness at Alfriston Zoo, Sussex - A Heartwarming Tale of Sunburned Pigs and Stylish Piglets

EDITORS COMMENTS
. In the scorching heat that swept across Alfriston Zoo, Sussex, temperatures soared into the nineties. Amidst this midsummer madness, a heartwarming incident unfolded. Betsy, one of the rare breeds of pigs residing in the zoo, found herself with an unexpected problem - sunburn! However, thanks to her caring keeper's quick thinking and resourcefulness, Betsy's bacon was saved. The devoted keeper came to Betsy's rescue by treating her sunburn with soothing sun lotion. Grateful for his tender care and not wanting to be outdone by their mother's ordeal, Betsy's two adorable piglets decided to add a touch of whimsy to their day. Instead of looking like boiled ham as they frolicked under the summer sun, these little mischief-makers donned hats and sunglasses! Captured through the lens of Mirror photographer Arthur Sidey during his remarkable forty-year career at The Mirror newspaper in 1989 – a snapshot frozen in time forever. This delightful image showcases not only animals but also clothing choices that were far from ordinary. This photograph is a testament to friendship and love among animals; it radiates humor and captures moments filled with pure joy. It reminds us that even amidst nature’s quirks and challenges such as scorching heatwaves or unexpected sunburns – there is always room
