Facing the cameras for the first time, its Prince William the Second of Twycross Zoo
Facing the cameras for the first time, its Prince William the Second of Twycross Zoo. And, unlike his royal namesake who was looking so down in the mouth yesterday, hes plainly enjoying his first Christmas. The five-month-old chimp was named William because he was born only a few weeks after the future heir to the throne. Sadly William the Second was rejected by his mother at the Leicestershire zoo. Since then he has been reared by staff. Now the chimp can t wait to get into the swing of Christmas. December 1982 P004082

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this heartwarming photo print, we are introduced to Prince William the Second of Twycross Zoo, as he faces the cameras for the very first time. Unlike his royal namesake who seemed glum in recent photographs, this adorable five-month-old chimp is clearly reveling in his first Christmas experience. The decision to name him William was a nod to destiny, as he was born just weeks after the future heir to the throne. Unfortunately, young William was rejected by his mother at the Leicestershire zoo and has since been lovingly cared for by dedicated staff members. As we gaze upon this delightful image captured in December 1982, it's evident that Prince William II can hardly contain his excitement for all things festive. With twinkling eyes and an infectious grin on his face, he eagerly anticipates joining in on the joyous celebrations. This photograph serves as a reminder of both resilience and compassion within our animal kingdom. Despite facing early challenges in life, little William embodies strength and determination while embracing the holiday spirit with open arms. Let us cherish this enchanting moment frozen in time – a testament to human care and kindness towards our fellow creatures during one of the most magical times of year.
