Terry Hagon and a couple of mates went for a cycle ride on Sunday starting 8

Terry Hagon and a couple of mates went for a cycle ride on Sunday starting 8, 000-ft up in the air. Not surprisingly, they found that their journey was downhill all the way. Terry, Michael O Brien and Robin Mills, members of the Chuting Stars, a group of free-fall parachutists who give displays to raise money for charity, rode out of the back door of a Skyvan aircraft over a military range near Dundee, Scotland. Terry and his bike soon parted company. But both landed safely thanks to parachutes that put the brake on their falls - the bikes parachute was opened by an altimeter-operated release. The bikes of the other two didn t have such happy landings. One plummeted to the ground, the other into the sea. Before setting off on their high ride - left to right: Terry Hagon, Michael O Brien and Robin Mills. July 1973 P004302

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this photo print, Terry Hagon and his adventurous mates embarked on an exhilarating cycle ride like no other. Taking their love for adrenaline to new heights, they began their journey a staggering 8,000 feet up in the air. As expected, their path was a thrilling descent all the way down. Terry Hagon, accompanied by Michael O'Brien and Robin Mills, were esteemed members of the Chuting Stars - a group of free-fall parachutists dedicated to raising funds for charitable causes through awe-inspiring displays. Their daring escapade commenced as they exited the rear door of a Skyvan aircraft above a military range near Dundee, Scotland. As gravity took hold of them during this extraordinary feat, Terry's trusty bicycle soon parted ways with him mid-air. However, both rider and bike landed safely thanks to carefully deployed parachutes that gently slowed their descent. The bike's parachute was ingeniously released by an altimeter-operated mechanism. Unfortunately for Michael and Robin, fate had different plans for their bicycles' landings. One plummeted earthward while the other found itself submerged in the depths of the sea below. This remarkable snapshot captures Terry Hagon alongside his companions just before embarking on this high-altitude adventure. It serves as a testament to friendship forged through shared passions and showcases the boundless spirit of these daredevils from July 1973.
