Blind swimmer Richard Freeman, from Woodmanstren, Surrey
Blind swimmer Richard Freeman, from Woodmanstren, Surrey, is currently training for an attempt at the English Channel. Back in 1969 Richard played a major part in a Channel relay swim, but this time he wants to make a solo attempt at what is one of the worlds most difficult swimming feats. During his preparations, Richard is getting expert help and advice from Rosemary George of Dover, Kent, who has twice swum the Channel in both directions, and Kevin Murphy, of Kenton, Middlesex, who has swum the Channel both ways non stop, and who holds the record for that other difficult swim, the Irish Channel. This print captures the determined spirit of blind swimmer Richard Freeman as he trains for his solo attempt at conquering the English Channel. Hailing from Woodmanstren, Surrey, Richard is no stranger to challenging swimming feats, having played a significant role in a Channel relay swim back in 1969. However, this time he seeks to write his name in history by completing one of the world's most difficult swimming endeavors.
