This statue portrays Titus Flavius Caesar Vespasianus Augustus, also known as Titus, the Roman Emperor from AD 79 to 81. Hailing from the Flavian Dynasty, Titus succeeded his father Vespasian as emperor following his father's death. The statue, now housed in the Archaeological Museum of Olympia in Greece, dates back to the 1st century AD. Titus' reign was marked by both triumph and tragedy. He is best known for his role in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79, which led to the destruction of Pompeii and Herculaneum. However, the disaster also brought about significant archaeological discoveries that have provided valuable insights into Roman life.
