Skating fashions, 1908

A trio of suitable costumes for skating. The figure in front wears a charming skirt cut in the latest fashion, the points of the stripes going upwards. The kimono jacket is made of the same material as the band round the hem of the skirt. The centre figure is a good illustration of the new tunic skirt and over-blouse trimmed with soutache braiding. The third figure is less original and the kilted skirt has not quite enough flare (in which case, I m not sure why its been featured at all!). Date: 1908

EDITORS COMMENTS
Step into the winter wonderland of 1908 with this image showcasing three elegant skating outfits. The first figure gracefully wears a fashionable skirt, featuring an upward-pointing stripe design that accentuates the movement of her skates. The matching kimono jacket, made from the same material as the skirt's hem band, adds an air of sophistication to her ensemble. The second figure epitomizes the latest trend in skating fashion with her tunic skirt and over-blouse. The skirt, with its unique design, is trimmed with soutache braid, adding texture and visual interest to the outfit. The blouse, with its high collar and long sleeves, provides both style and warmth. The third figure, while still stylish, is less original in her choice of attire. Her kilted skirt, although not as flared as the first two, is still a popular option for the sporty and active woman of the Edwardian era. The figure wears a cozy muff, a must-have accessory for keeping hands warm during long hours on the ice. This photograph captures the essence of winter sports fashion during the Edwardian era. The skaters' outfits reflect the latest trends in design and function, making this image a fascinating glimpse into the past. Whether you're a history buff, a fashion enthusiast, or simply someone who appreciates the beauty of winter sports, this image is sure to captivate and inspire.
