This photograph album, compiled by Chief Commander Blanche Barton of the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS) between 1938 and 1945, offers a unique insight into the experiences of women in the military during the build-up to and early years of World War II. The album contains 73 photographs, the first section of which documents the training of ATS recruits at Malvern Camp in 1938.
