However, her faith did not falter, and she continued to secretly practice her religion. One day, her father discovered her clandestine activities and, enraged, ordered her execution. Barbara was taken to the town square and subjected to various forms of torture, including being beaten with clubs and exposed to the elements. Yet, she remained unyielding in her faith. The final blow came when she was ordered to be beheaded. As the executioner raised his axe, Barbara's faith was rewarded with a miraculous intervention. A sudden thunderstorm erupted, and a bolt of lightning struck the executioner, killing him instead. Barbara was then beheaded, and her body was discovered by a Christian hermit, who gave her a proper burial.
