Step back in time to a traditional Devon cider farm in the year 1850, as depicted in this evocative photograph from Mary Evans Picture Library. The mill, a vital component of the production, was used to crush the apples into a coarse mash. On the left side of the photograph, we see the press, where the crushed apples were carefully built into a square heap.
