In this photograph from the 1953 SBAC Farnborough Air Show, the de Havilland DH.115 Vampire Trainer T.11 WZ419 takes center stage. As the fourth production aircraft used for development in the de Havilland line-up, WZ419 showcases the sleek design and advanced technology of this iconic British jet trainer. Surrounding WZ419 are several other notable aircraft that graced the skies during this era. On the other side of the runway, two Avro Vulcan prototypes and the first Handley Page Victor prototype can be seen. The Avro Vulcan, a long-range, variable geometry delta-wing bomber, and the Handley Page Victor, a long-range strategic transport aircraft, were both groundbreaking designs that would go on to serve the Royal Air Force (RAF) for decades. Additionally, the de Havilland DH.110 WG240 is seen making its way to the runway for landing. The DH.110, also known as the Chipmunk, was a popular primary trainer used by the RAF and various other air forces around the world.
