Convair C-131B Samaritan O-53-7793 (MSN 245) assigned to NASA Langley Research Center, Langley Field, VA 1974 designated NC-131B prior to re-engining as NC-131H. Still in USAF service as of July 2002, leased to Veridian Engineering, Buffalo, NY. registered N793VS. Aircraft is modified as Total In-Flight Simulator extra cockpit grafted onto the nose. Aircraft can simulate the handling of almost any type of aircraft. Retired 7 November 2008 and flown the same day to the United States Air Force Museum, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH.. Date: 1970s

In this photograph, we find the Convair C-131B Samaritan with the registration number O-53-7793 (MSN 245), assigned to NASA Langley Research Center at Langley Field in Virginia during the 1970s. At the time, this aircraft was designated as NC-131B prior to undergoing re-engining as NC-131H for the United States Air Force (USAF). The Convair C-131B Samaritan is a versatile military transport aircraft, and this particular one was later leased to Veridian Engineering in Buffalo, New York, in July 2002. The aircraft was registered as N793VS and underwent significant modifications, including the grafting of an extra cockpit onto the nose, transforming it into a Total In-Flight Simulator. This unique feature allowed the aircraft to simulate the handling of almost any type of aircraft, making it an invaluable tool for aviation research and training. As of November 2008, the NC-131B with the registration N793VS retired from service and was flown to the United States Air Force Museum at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio.
