EDITORS COMMENTS
This image is taken from a publicity booklet published by White Star Line in 1912, showcasing the interior beauty of the RMS Olympic and RMS Titanic. The photograph offers a glimpse into the opulence of the dining room on board these luxurious ocean liners. The triple-screw steamers, Olympic and Titanic, were the largest vessels in the world at the time, each boasting an impressive tonnage of 45,000 tons and a passenger capacity of over 3,500. The dining room, adorned with elegant decor and fine color plates, was a testament to the exceptional catering facilities on offer. The reception room, reading and writing room, smoke room, restaurant, and main staircase are all depicted in this stunning illustration. The verandah cafe, Turkish bath cooling system, swimming bath, and various deck areas are also featured, providing passengers with a range of options for relaxation and recreation. This publicity booklet, entitled "Notes on the White Star Line's New Triple-Screw Steamers, Olympic and Titanic," includes sixteen color plates, many of which are folding, and a frontispiece vignette by renowned maritime artist Sam Brown. Measuring approximately 4¾ inches by 7 inches, this fine copy is bound in red ribbon and comes with a list of the fleet and a Mersey list. The 32-page booklet, a fascinating relic of the 1910s, offers a glimpse into the world of luxury transport and travel that was the White Star Line.
