EDITORS COMMENTS
This stunning print captures the grandeur and history of the Reception room at the Commanderie templiere d'Avalleur in Bar-sur-Seine, France. Dating back to the 13th century, this room is steeped in centuries of tradition and has witnessed the comings and goings of knights from both the Templar and Hospitaller orders.
The monumental fireplace added in the late Middle Ages serves as a focal point, radiating warmth and light throughout the space. The intricate architecture of the building reflects a time when faith played a central role in society, with symbols of Christianity adorning every corner.
As you gaze upon this image, you can almost hear echoes of conversations held around the dining table, illuminated by flickering candlelight. A lone figure dressed in robes stands near a window, perhaps contemplating his place within this sacred space.
The Chapel listed as a historic monument adds to the allure of this location, reminding us of its significance in European history. This print by Manuel Cohen beautifully captures not just a physical space but also an essence - one that speaks to our shared heritage and beliefs.
