(circa 1922). Talbot, an esteemed British Army officer, served a distinguished military career that culminated in his appointment as the Governor of Victoria, Australia, from 1904 to 1908. Born on July 2, 1856, Talbot joined the British Army in 1874, and over the next two decades, he rose through the ranks, earning numerous accolades for his leadership and military prowess. In 1898, he was appointed a Companion of the Order of the Bath (C.B.) for his services in the Sudan campaign. In 1904, Talbot was summoned to Australia to assume the role of Governor of Victoria, a position he held until 1908. During his tenure, he worked diligently to promote education, agriculture, and infrastructure development in the colony. He also oversaw the opening of the Parliament of Victoria's new building in 1906. After his term as Governor, Talbot returned to England and was knighted in 1911 for his services in the South African War. He later served as a Member of Parliament from 1912 to 1915.
