The Tertiary Period, spanning from approximately 66 million to 2.6 million years ago, was marked by the rise of mammals and the decline of dinosaurs following the cataclysmic event that shaped our planet - the asteroid impact. In this image, we find a diverse array of extinct animals and plants that once thrived in the European landscape. Gigantic Mammoths, with their long curved tusks and shaggy coats, roamed the icy plains, while Saber-toothed Tigers, with their distinctive elongated canines, prowled the forests. The mighty Deinotherium, an enormous pig-like creature with tusks that curved downwards, grazed peacefully in open savannas.
