EDITORS COMMENTS
Step back in time with this evocative photograph of the Yorkshire Grey Public House in Stratford, London, as it looked in the 1960s. The image captures the traditional charm of the pub, with its red brick facade, wooden beams, and inviting sign. The Yorkshire Grey, located at 152 The Grove, Stratford, London E15 2TF, was a beloved local watering hole with a rich history. As evidenced by the back of the print, the pub had a trading record dating back to 1934, and by 1961, it was under the management of the Charrington and Company Limited. The pub was known for its warm atmosphere and friendly service, making it a popular gathering place for the community. However, the Yorkshire Grey did not escape the changes that came to Stratford in the latter half of the 20th century. For a period, it was renamed Old Log Cabin before ultimately being demolished. The photograph captures a moment in time before the pub's transformation, offering a glimpse into the past and the history of this once-beloved local institution. This photograph is a reminder of the rich history and character of London's pubs, and the role they play in shaping the fabric of their communities. Whether you're a history buff, a local resident, or simply someone who appreciates the charm of a good pub, this image is sure to transport you back to a simpler time.
