Step back in time with this evocative photograph of the Highwayman Public House in Camberley, Surrey, as it looked in the 1960s. The corner view of the pub, with its half-timbered facade and inviting sign, exudes a warm and inviting atmosphere. The Highwayman was a popular local watering hole, having been in operation since at least the late 19th century. According to the information on the reverse of the print, the pub was under the management of the Charrington and Company Limited by the 1960s. Sadly, the Highwayman, located at GU15 4HB, was no longer standing by July 2018, a victim of the relentless march of progress. This photograph offers a precious glimpse into the past, transporting us back to a time when a visit to the pub was a social occasion, a chance to connect with friends and neighbors over a pint. The Highwayman may be gone, but its memory lives on through images like this one.
